What is a lip flip?
A lip flip temporarily reduces selected movement in the muscle surrounding the upper lip using the same muscle relaxing product used in our anti-wrinkle treatments. This allows the edge of the lip to turn slightly outwards, making a little more of the natural lip visible.
Unlike lip filler, a lip flip doesn’t add volume or change the underlying structure of your lips. The result is generally understated and may be most noticeable when you smile.
The muscles around the mouth are involved in speaking, eating, drinking and expression. We therefore take a careful, conservative approach and will only recommend treatment if it suits your anatomy.
What can a lip flip help with?
We may consider a lip flip for: • An upper lip that curls inward when smiling • An upper lip that looks thinner when you smile • Showing slightly more of your natural upper lip • Creating a subtle outward turn along the lip edge • People who don’t want to add volume with filler A lip flip won’t substantially enlarge your lips or provide the structure and definition that can be created with dermal filler.
Our approach is calm, honest and personalised. Our team will always take time to assess your face, listen to your concerns and explain whether this treatment is right for you.

It allows the upper lip to turn slightly outwards, making more of its natural surface visible. It doesn’t add volume, so the change is usually subtle and may be most noticeable when smiling.
A lip flip changes how the edge of the upper lip moves without adding volume. Lip filler places a gel beneath the tissue to change volume, shape or definition. We can help you understand which approach is more suited to your desired result.
Results are temporary and may wear off more quickly than treatments in less mobile areas because we use the mouth constantly. The effect often lasts for approximately two to three months, although this varies.
If the surrounding muscle is affected more than intended, you may temporarily notice a difference when drinking from a straw, pronouncing certain words, eating or controlling your lips. Asymmetry or an insufficient result is also possible. We’ll explain these risks before treatment.
